Battle of the Centuries:
Metric vs Imperial

Do you know why the US still uses 'inches' and 'feet' while the rest of the world has adopted the 'meter'? The story goes back to the French Revolution (1799). The French decided to create a system based on nature (one ten-millionth of the distance from the equator to the North Pole) called the 'meter'.

In contrast, the British Imperial system was based on the bodies of kings! For example, a 'foot' was literally the length of the king's foot, and a 'yard' was the distance from King Henry I's nose to the tip of his finger.

Pure logic! Water's freezing point is 0 and boiling is 100. The global standard for science and daily life (except the US).

Fahrenheit (°F)
